About Jade Buddha Palace

A Buddhist temple complex on the west slope of Jade Buddha Hill in Anshan, opened in 1996 and built around a hall about 33 m high that houses a statue carved from a single block of Xiuyan jade weighing 260.76 tonnes, with Shakyamuni on the front and Guanyin crossing the sea on the back. Its buildings include a Heavenly Kings hall, bell and drum towers and a jade-belt bridge, and the complex was enlarged and reopened in 2006. In 2015 the site was approved as a place of Buddhist worship and renamed Jade Buddha Temple, so it is a working temple as well as a sight.
