About Beishouling Neolithic Site
A Neolithic village site of about 6 ha on a terrace on the west bank of the Jinling River in northern Baoji, occupied from about 5100 to 3790 BC. Excavated between 1958 and 1978, it has a lower layer of the late Dadiwan culture and upper layers of the Yangshao (Banpo type) culture and yielded painted pottery such as a boat-shaped jar and a pot showing a waterbird pecking a fish; a museum now protects and displays part of the site.
