About Mount Luofu

A sacred Daoist mountain in north-western Boluo County, revered as the seventh grotto-heaven and 34th blessed land of Daoism, with 432 peaks rising to 1,296 m at Feiyun Peak and hundreds of waterfalls, springs and caves. Its best-known temple, Chongxu Guan, grew from a hermitage of the Eastern Jin alchemist Ge Hong and keeps halls rebuilt in the Tongzhi reign (1862–1874), with his alchemy furnace and herb-washing pool beside it; Huanglong Temple and a Ge Hong museum are among the other sights. Su Dongpo's verses on the lychees he ate below the mountain made it famous from Song times.

How to get to Mount Luofu

About 35 km from the Boluo county seat and roughly an hour by road north-west of central Huizhou; Luofushan high-speed railway station lies about 8 km south of the main temple area.
