About Chifeng North Great Mosque

Founded in 1739 and rebuilt between 1742 and 1747, this is regarded as the largest and oldest mosque in the Chifeng area, and it was listed nationally in 2013. It follows a Chinese courtyard plan on a central axis, with a gate, side halls and a prayer hall, and a two-storey hexagonal minaret pavilion about 30 metres high rising behind the prayer hall. Carved brick, stone and wood decoration includes Arabic inscriptions and geometric and plant patterns.
