About Daixian Confucian Temple
The Confucian temple of the former Daizhou prefecture, built mainly in the Ming dynasty and called by the Dai County government the largest surviving prefectural Confucian temple in North China. Four courtyards run along a north-south axis from a decorated memorial archway through the Lingxing Gate and a semicircular pool to the seven-bay Dacheng Hall on a white-marble base, with the buildings roofed in peacock-blue glazed tiles. After 1949 the compound was used as a grain store, which helped it survive.
