About Dalian Modern Museum
Dalian's city museum stands beside Xinghai Square and opened in 2002. Its permanent exhibition, 'Modern Dalian', covers the city's history from 1840 to 1949 in seven sections, from naval defence and the 1894–95 war through Russian and Japanese rule to the establishment of people's government in 1949. Other halls hold changing exhibitions of art and antiquities borrowed from Chinese and foreign museums.
How to get to Dalian Modern Museum
On Huizhan Road on the north-west side of Xinghai Square in Shahekou district, about 6 km south-west of Zhongshan Square (straight line); closed on Mondays.
