About Yinshan Rock Paintings

The Yinshan rock paintings are engraved images on cliffs and boulders along the Langshan range, spread over Dengkou County and the Urad banners of Bayannur. Surveys in 1976–80 counted more than 10,000 images of animals, hunters, riders, chariots and dancers, with later inscriptions in Turkic, Uyghur, Tangut and Mongolian, dating from the Neolithic to recent centuries. Bayannur's official archaeology route takes visitors to the Gel Aobao Gou and Molehetu Gou panels in Dengkou.
