About Qingdun Neolithic Site

Villagers digging a canal in 1973 found this settlement of about 5,000 years ago, and three seasons of excavation in the late 1970s followed; the city calls it the best-preserved Neolithic site in the eastern Jianghuai plain. Finds include a pottery axe with its handle and a carved deer antler with markings likened to the eight trigrams, and the Qingdun Site Museum just north of the site uses objects, photos and video to show daily life of the time.
