About Tashan Weir

A stone weir across the Yin River built in 833 under the county magistrate Wang Yuanwei, which kept tidal salt water out and diverted fresh water to irrigate the plain and supply the city of Mingzhou, today's Ningbo. The 113.7 m dam of dressed stone blocks is still in use, and in 2015 it was named a World Heritage Irrigation Structure. A temple to Wang stands on the hill beside it.
