About China National Silk Museum

A national museum of silk and textiles south of West Lake at the foot of Yuhuang Hill, opened in 1992 and rebuilt and enlarged in 2015–16. Its galleries trace Chinese silk and dress from Neolithic finds to the 20th century, with a weaving workshop, displays on sericulture and silk crafts (on UNESCO's intangible heritage list since 2009) and a textile conservation gallery, and it has held a Chinese costume festival every year since 2018.
