About Marshal Nie Rongzhen Exhibition Hall

A memorial museum to Nie Rongzhen, the Jiangjin-born marshal who directed China's nuclear-weapons and satellite programmes, opened in 1999 at the foot of Aiping Mountain on the edge of Jiangjin's urban area. Its main building centres on a 36 m tower shaped like a rocket carrying a satellite, and the exhibition follows his life in five sections, from work-study in France and the Jin-Cha-Ji base area of the war against Japan to the 'Two Bombs, One Satellite' programme. In front, a bronze statue stands above a square displaying a retired fighter aircraft, artillery and missiles.
