About Sanqingkou Porcelain Workshops
A porcelain-making village in a small valley in Xiakou town, where the Huang family set up kilns in the Qianlong era of the Qing dynasty, using local kaolin, water-powered pounding mills and wood from the hills, and shipped blue-and-white wares along the Xianxia road. Workshops, water-driven mills, kilns, a kiln-god temple, houses and the clan hall survive, including a 35 m dragon kiln built on the slope in 1962 that stopped in 1997 and was relit in 2023. An old single-arch stone bridge, the Wenchang Bridge, crosses the stream in the village.
