About Shanyang Ancient City Site
The site of Shanyang, a walled town from the Eastern Zhou to the Northern Qi whose county became the fief of the deposed Emperor Xian of Han in 220. Sections of its rammed-earth wall still rise above ground, about 1,850 m along the north side and 1,350 m along the east, round an enclosure of some 3 km² now swallowed by the eastern part of Jiaozuo. Finds from the Han tombs around it, including a jar inscribed 'Shanyang', are in the Jiaozuo Museum.
