About Bijia Mountain

A small island of about 1 sq km in Liaodong Bay that a natural sand-and-gravel causeway about 1.6 km long links to the mainland; the tides expose it twice a day and cover it again. On the island is a group of old buildings, including Sanqing Pavilion, an all-stone pavilion built without timber or nails that houses Confucian, Daoist and Buddhist figures. The causeway can only be walked at low tide, so check tide times before going.
