About Longchuan Village
Longchuan is a Hu-clan village on the Dengyuan River 11 km east of Jixi county town, where the Ming general and official Hu Zongxian was born in 1512. Its Hu Clan Ancestral Hall, founded in the Song, rebuilt with funds raised by Hu Zongxian in the Jiajing era and restored in 1898, is known for more than 600 carved wooden panels. On the canal street stands the Yishi Shangshu stone archway of 1562, honouring two Hu ministers, and Hu Bingheng's residence is listed with it.
