About Jizhou White Pagoda
The Jizhou White Pagoda is an octagonal brick tower 30.6 metres high, rebuilt in 1058 in the Liao style on a structure that radiocarbon dating of its timbers places in the Sui dynasty. Its lower part has tiered eaves and its upper part ends in an upturned-bowl dome with a bronze finial, an unusual form among Liao pagodas. It was once part of the Dule Temple layout, and Liang Sicheng noted in 1932 that the Guanyin statue in Dule's pavilion looks out toward it.
