About Tongzhou Bridge, Lanxi

An 84 m covered bridge over the Meixi stream at Juren village, Meijiang town, in north-eastern Lanxi, on the old road between Pujiang and the Lan River. Its five-arch stone base carries a timber gallery of 21 bays with a shrine pavilion at the centre and pavilions at each end, the form it took when it was rebuilt in 1886–88. The writer Cao Juren, who grew up nearby, is said to have first met his wife on the bridge.
