About Shanxi–Shaanxi Guildhall, Liaocheng

This temple-guildhall was paid for by Shanxi and Shaanxi merchants who traded in Liaocheng; building began in 1743 and the complex reached its present form by 1809. Along its main axis stand a gate, an opera stage, bell and drum towers, a hall to the god of war Guan Yu and the Chunqiu Pavilion, rich in stone, brick and wood carving and inscribed couplets.
