About A-Ma Temple

A temple complex on the western slope of Barra Hill (Templo de A-Má), dedicated to A-Ma, goddess of seafarers, whose shrine here is older than the city of Macau. Its pavilions went up at different times: a gate pavilion, a memorial arch, the Prayer Hall of 1605, the Hall of Benevolence, which may date from about 1488, the Hall of Guanyin and a Buddhist pavilion. Rocks along the path uphill are engraved with poems about Macau's history and culture.
