About Guia Fortress
A fortress (Fortaleza da Guia) built between 1622 and 1638 on the summit of Guia Hill, which together with Mount Fortress helped defend the city against the Dutch attack of 1622. Inside stand the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows, whose frescoes were uncovered in 1996 and mix Western and Chinese motifs, and the 1865 Guia Lighthouse, the first modern lighthouse on China's south coast. The fortress and chapel can be visited; the lighthouse is not open to the public.
How to get to Guia Fortress
