About Hong Kung Temple
A temple of 1860 in the old bazaar area, dedicated to Marshal Hong Gong and also to Hung Seng, the Buddha and Hua Tuo, god of medicine. Local legend tells of a wooden statue of Hong Gong that floated ashore here and was first given a shrine. The building shows southern Chinese architecture, with a courtyard uniting the main elements and coloured pottery figures on the roof.
