About Taipa Fortress

A small hillside fort built in 1846 to defend against pirates, later a summer residence of the governor of Macau and, from 1975, the police station of the islands. It has small cannons at its entrance and around its walls, barracks with corridors facing the old shoreline, two sentry posts and a cylindrical building at the rear that was once an ammunition store. Today it is the headquarters of the Macau Scout Association, and the ground around it is laid out as a rest area.

How to get to Taipa Fortress

Beside Jardim do Cais in north-west Taipa, about 0.2 km south-east of Ocean light rail station. The buildings are used by the Macau Scouting Association, so only the exterior and the surrounding rest area can be seen.
