About Victory Garden

The garden (Jardim da Vitória) opened in 1871 to mark the Portuguese victory over a Dutch attempt to take Macau in June 1622. At its centre stands an octagonal stone monument by the sculptor Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, carrying the Portuguese emblem, laurel leaves and a cross, with an excerpt from Camões's Os Lusíadas on the pedestal. Stone terraces lead up from the avenue to this small park, which has flowerbeds, trees and benches.

How to get to Victory Garden

On Avenida de Sidónio Pais, about 0.2 km north-east of Tap Seac Square, with a bus stop named after the garden.
