About Manduan Temple
A Theravada Buddhist temple in Man'en village, Mengzhe, whose main hall, built in the late Ming or early Qing, is the oldest surviving timber building in Xishuangbanna. The hall stands on a 1.3 m base under a stepped roof made up of 22 curved planes, with dragon-shaped brackets under the eaves, painted outer walls and gilded stencil decoration inside. The gate, ordination hall, monks' quarters and drum house are modern rebuilds.
