About Mindrolling Monastery
One of the principal monasteries of the Nyingma school, founded in its present form in 1676 by Terdak Lingpa on the site of an earlier temple, and rebuilt after damage by Dzungar troops in 1718. The three-storey main hall has an assembly hall with murals of fierce protector deities and a chapel painted with the great Nyingma lamas. Mindrolling was long known for Tibetan calendar studies, calligraphy, medicine and incense making.
