About Shangjing Longquanfu

Shangjing was the main capital of the Bohai kingdom, a Tang-era state in north-east Asia, laid out on the plan of the Tang capital Chang'an with outer, inner and palace cities, until the Khitan destroyed the kingdom in 926. The palace-city site is now a national archaeological park with a scale model of the palace city, at one-twentieth size, and models of six individual halls, and a site museum nearby shows finds and research in four galleries. Xinglong Temple, a Qing-dynasty temple built on the old Bohai temple ground, keeps Bohai stone carvings including a stone lantern and a large stone Buddha.
