About Bukui Mosque

Described by Xinhua as the largest and oldest mosque in Heilongjiang, Bukui Mosque is still used for worship in the old centre of Qiqihar. It grew from two separate mosques: an East Mosque built in 1684, seven years before the city was founded, and a West Mosque built in 1852 by followers of the Jahriyya order who had come from Gansu; the two were merged in 1958. The compound covers about 6,400 square metres and includes a pagoda-style minaret.
