About Zhalong Nature Reserve
A vast freshwater reed marsh on the Wuyuer River plain, known as a breeding ground for red-crowned cranes and listed as a wetland of international importance (Ramsar) in 1992. The tourist area, about 4.7 square kilometres of the much larger reserve, has a viewing platform for scheduled flight displays by trained, captive-bred cranes, plus boat trips through the reeds and walking trails. The displays continue through the winter, and the area was upgraded to a 5A scenic area in December 2024.
How to get to Zhalong Nature Reserve
In Tiefeng district, about 26 km south-east of central Qiqihar.
