About Potatso National Park
A protected area of lakes, wetlands, forest and alpine meadow east of Shangri-La, inaugurated in 2007 as the first reserve in mainland China to be named a national park, within the Three Parallel Rivers World Heritage area. Park buses carry visitors from the entrance to forest-ringed Shudu Lake, which is circled by boardwalks. Bita Lake and the Militang meadow were closed to visitors after a central environmental inspection in 2017, and a park notice for 2026 still keeps the main part of Bita Lake and its lakeside boardwalk closed for conservation.
How to get to Potatso National Park
