About Fuling Mausoleum (Dongling Park)

The tomb of Nurhaci, founder of the Later Jin state that preceded the Qing dynasty, and his wife Empress Xiaocigao, begun in 1629 on a wooded hillside and added to the UNESCO-listed Imperial Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in 2004. Stone animals line the way from the red gate to a flight of 108 steps, a stele pavilion and the walled square city with the sacrificial hall, and the burial mound lies behind it. The grounds have been a public park since 1929 and are ringed by old pine forest, which makes this a good companion to Zhaoling.
