About Xinle Site Museum
A museum on the site of a Neolithic village of the Xinle culture, found in 1973 on a terrace of the old Hun River course in the north of Shenyang and dated to more than 7,000 years ago. The north section has a reconstructed village of half-sunken houses with scenes of daily life, and the south hall displays finds such as stone tools, pottery, jade and carved wood. A bird-shaped wood carving from the site was the model for the Sun Bird sculpture that has become an emblem of Shenyang.
