About Taishun Covered Bridge Culture Park (Xidong and Beijian Bridges)

A heritage park in Sixi town built around Xidong Bridge (1745) and Beijian Bridge (1803), two timber covered bridges with woven-beam arches that stand close together over the streams of Xiaqiao village. The park also takes in old buildings such as Zhang Shiyi's former residence and the Bao ancestral hall, and showcases Taishun's puppet theatre. The two bridges head the national listing of 15 Taishun covered bridges scattered across the county; three of them were swept away by floods in 2016 and rebuilt in 2017, reusing as much of their original timber as possible.
