About Taishun Tulou
Six fortified earth buildings in Taishun County, built in the Fujian earth-building tradition between the Qing dynasty and the Republic. The listed buildings include Shangjiaoyang Tulou near Luoyang, a square two-storey block of rammed earth on a stone base, with timber rooms around a central courtyard and a defensive ditch, built in the late Qing by the Zeng clan, who came from the Quanzhou area of Fujian; around it the village's semicircular 'water-castle' houses ring the clan temple.
How to get to Taishun Tulou
