About Taohuayuan (Peach Blossom Land)
Taohuayuan, facing the Yuan River about 15 km south-west of Taoyuan county town, is the place long identified with Tao Yuanming's fable The Peach Blossom Spring, and temples and Daoist halls have stood here since the Tang. Most of the present shrines, pavilions and bridges, among them the Yuanming Shrine, the Taohua Daoist temple, the Fangzhu Pavilion and the Yuxian Bridge, come from late-Qing rebuilding and restorations of 1979–1988, and together they form a national heritage unit. The 15.8 km² scenic area, rated 5A in 2020, is divided into Taohua Hill, Taoyuan Hill, Qinren Village and Taoxian Ridge, with peach groves along the valleys.
