About Sanwan Park & China Grand Canal Museum

In 1597 Yangzhou's prefect Guo Guangfu replaced a straight stretch of the canal, nearly 200 m long, with a 1.8 km course of three bends to raise the water level and slow the current; after 2014 factories and wharves were cleared from its banks, which reopened in 2017 as a wetland park. Its centrepiece is the China Grand Canal Museum, opened in June 2021 in a ship-shaped building designed by Zhang Jinqiu, with the Dayun Pagoda beside it. The galleries cover the whole canal, from a 25.7 m section of riverbed lifted from the Zhouqiao site on the Bian canal to a restored Qing passenger boat and a recreated canal-town street.

How to get to Sanwan Park & China Grand Canal Museum
