About Song Jiacheng Archaeological Park (Yangzhou City Ruins)

The Jiacheng was a walled enclosure the Southern Song built between Yangzhou's main city and the fortress on the Shugang hills; its earthen walls, about 2.6 km round and still 1–3 m above the surrounding ground, are ringed by water and now form a park with paths and the excavated north gate. It is one of the visible parts of the Yangzhou City Ruins, the overlapping Sui, Tang and Song cities protected as one national site, whose other display points include the West Gate ruins museum of the Song city on Siwangting Road and the Tang City Ruins Museum on the Shugang, built over the site of the Sui emperor's Jiangdu palace.
