About Ehu Academy

Ehu Academy stands at the foot of Mount Ehu on the spot where, in 1175, the philosophers Zhu Xi, Lu Zuqian, Lu Jiuyuan and Lu Jiuling held the debate known as the Ehu Meeting. The academy took its present name in the Ming dynasty, and its layout dates largely from a Qing rebuilding of 1717 that added a gatehouse, stone archway, hall, ceremonial pool, arched bridge, stele pavilion and imperial-book tower, with rows of student cells beside them. It has been a national heritage site since 2006 and is also a national 4A scenic area.
