About Jiuxiang Scenic Region

A karst area in Yiliang County where more than 20 caves have formed in layers along the Maitian River, a tributary of the Nanpan; where cave roofs have collapsed, the river runs through gorges and under natural bridges. Parts of the cave system opened to visitors in 1989, and the area became a national geopark in 2009. The visitor route links the shady Yincui gorge with caverns such as the White Elephant and Bat caves and the rock formations known as the Fairy Fields.
