About Furong Ancient Town

A Tujia town in Yongshun County built on cliffs above a waterfall that drops into the You River; formerly called Wangcun, it took its present name in 2007 after the film Hibiscus Town was shot here. It also keeps the Xizhou Bronze Pillar of 940, an eight-sided column inscribed with the truce between the Chu ruler Ma Xifan and the local chief Peng Shichou, which was moved here in 1971 when the Fengtan hydropower dam was built and is now displayed in the town's folk-customs museum, a former mission chapel of 1931.
