About Yandang Mountains

The main area of the North Yandang range in Yueqing, a 5A scenic area and Global Geopark of about 450 km², formed by volcanic eruptions more than 100 million years ago and eroded into cliffs, pinnacles, caves and waterfalls. Its 'three wonders' are the rock silhouettes of Lingfeng by night, the rope-crossing act between the cliffs at Lingyan and the Dalongqiu waterfall, and Lingyan also has Lingyan Temple and the Xiaolongqiu falls. Inside Longbi (Dragon's Nose) Cave in the Lingyan area, 94 cliff inscriptions from the Tang dynasty to modern times include one by the Song scholar Shen Kuo.
