About Yuejiang Tower (Former HQ of Ye Ting's Independent Regiment)

A quadrangle of two-storey halls around a Lingnan courtyard on a low hill above the West River in Zhaoqing, given its name in 1641 when it was rebuilt on the model of Tengwang Pavilion and rebuilt several times since. In November 1925 it became the headquarters of the newly formed 34th Regiment of the National Revolutionary Army's 4th Army, the 'Independent Regiment' commanded by Ye Ting, which went on to fight in the Northern Expedition. Since 1959 it has housed a memorial hall to the regiment, whose exhibition was renewed for the regiment's centenary in 2025.
