About Shibaozhai

A sheer rock outcrop on the north bank of the Yangtze in Shibao Town, climbed by a red timber pavilion built against the cliff in the early 19th century and raised from nine to twelve storeys in 1956, with a Buddhist hall on the summit. Since the reservoir filled, the rock stands as an island protected by a large ring dyke, and many Yangtze cruise ships stop here.
