About Guiyang
Guizhou's capital lies at about 1,100 m on the Nanming River, where Jiaxiu Tower, first raised in 1598, stands on a rock in the stream. Wild macaques roam Qianling Mountain Park, and on the southern edge Qingyan Ancient Town, founded in 1378 as a Ming military post, keeps walls, gates and lanes of blue-grey stone. North of the city, Yangming Cave is where the philosopher Wang Yangming lived in exile from 1508.
