About Chengmai

Chengmai, a county governed directly by the province, lies west of Haikou. Fushan Coffee Culture Town, a 4A area of cafés and shops, stands where coffee has grown since the 1930s, and the roasting craft is provincial intangible heritage. Also here are the Twin Pagodas of Meilang, two volcanic-stone towers of the Song or Yuan dynasty, each in its own pond, and Shique village, whose Feng clan halls and 230-odd volcanic-stone houses are tied to Lady Xian, a sixth-century leader.
