About Jixi

Jixi is a coal-mining city on the southern edge of the Sanjiang Plain, but its sights lie east, towards the Russian border. Lake Khanka (Xingkai) is a huge border lake, mostly in Russia, with a sandy Chinese shore, and the Hutou Scenic Area and Fortress Museum stands on the Ussuri River at a Japanese army fortress taken by Soviet forces in August 1945. Jixi is known for its ethnic Korean community, whose cold noodles are the local dish.
