About Puyang

Puyang, on the north bank of the Yellow River where Henan meets Hebei and Shandong, became a city in 1983 after the Zhongyuan Oilfield struck oil in 1975. In 1987 a grave at Xishuipo yielded a dragon and a tiger laid out in clam shells some 6,400 years ago, hailed as China's first dragon. Dongbeizhuang village has passed down acrobatics for more than 500 years, and about 1.5 km of rammed-earth wall still stands at Qicheng, a town of the Spring and Autumn period.
