About Rizhao

Rizhao means 'sunshine', a name traced to the first light of dawn on the Yellow Sea, and the city is known for its beaches, such as Wanpingkou, and as a water-sports centre. Inland, the crags of Wulian Mountain drew praise from the poet Su Shi, and at Fulai Mountain a ginkgo beside the Dinglin Temple is said to be more than 3,000 years old. Longshan culture sites such as Yaowangcheng lie near the coast, and Rizhao is known for its green tea.
