Deyang 德阳Déyáng
Bronze Age masks at Sanxingdui and hand-coloured door gods from Mianzhu

About Deyang
Deyang, just north-east of Chengdu, is an industrial city known for heavy power-generation equipment, yet it also holds Sanxingdui. There, at Guanghan, the Sanxingdui Museum displays the goggle-eyed bronze masks, gold-foil faces and towering bronze tree of a lost Bronze Age kingdom. Mianzhu, badly hit by the 2008 earthquake, distils Jiannanchun baijiu and still prints colourful New Year pictures, while Pang Tong Shrine and Tomb recalls the Three Kingdoms on the old road north.
