About Anshun Confucius Temple

A Confucian temple in the old centre of Anshun, founded in 1394 as the prefectural school temple and rebuilt many times since; only the stone carvings survive from the Ming, with most of the rest Qing or later. Five successive courtyards lead from an entrance screen wall through a ceremonial pool and a gateway to the Dacheng Hall, whose front columns are carved with openwork coiled dragons. Listed nationally in 2001, it is a short walk from other old-town sights such as the Wumiao and Wang Ruofei's former home.
