About Pagoda of Tianning Temple
A solid octagonal brick pagoda of thirteen tiers from the Liao dynasty, dated to 1119 by a stele found in its top during repairs in 1992, which confirmed the earlier dating by the architectural historians Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin. Its base and first storey carry carved doors, windows, guardian figures and dragons, and it stands in the grounds of the working Tianning Temple.
